21 years in the making By Louie Dee May 8, 2006 On July 15, Saturday Night’s Main Event will be live on NBC once again. Emanating from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, it will be the second edition since the glorious return of Saturday Night’s Main Event earlier this year. Hard to believe, but it was 21 years ago this week that Saturday night became alright for fighting. On May 11, 1985, the first episode was broadcast in place of Saturday Night Live. The first SNME, which took place at the Nassau Coliseum outside of New York City, is chock full of history. The list of Superstars involved reads like a Who’s Who of sports-entertainment, and includes several Hall of Famers. From The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff to Hulk Hogan to the Fabulous Moolah, it truly was a classic. So make sure that you’re a part of history this July. Tickets are on sale now at the American Airlines Center box office, as well as all Ticketmaster outlets. Saturday Night’s alright for fighting once again, and when the WWE Superstars invade to Dallas this July, it’s sure to be hot. Find out more about this event.
